Physiotherapy massage
Physiotherapy massage differs from regular massage in several ways. First of all, physiotherapeutic massage requires a detailed knowledge of the body's anatomy (structure) and physiology (internal functions), coupled with a comprehensive knowledge of diseases and injuries.
In the Athletic Studio, I combine the regular, relaxing massage with different types of physiotherapeutic massage techniques, which help in different ways:
- Myofascial release increases mobility in connective tissue
- Muscle energy technique uses the energy of the muscles to make deeper stretches
- Stretching techniques make you more flexible
- Facilitation methods guide you to correct exercises
This is how physiotherapeutic massage takes place
A physiotherapeutic massage is divided into three stages:
- Before we start the massage, we look at your body as a whole. Here you are wearing underwear, so I can clearly see how you compensates for your problems, how you carry your body, whether you have any deformities or swellings that I need to pay attention to, and how you breathe.
- After that, I feel the areas that are causing you problems. That way, I get an impression of what kind of massage techniques I need to use.
- Now the actual physiotherapeutic massage starts. Here I use many of the above treatment techniques. Contrary to regular massage, you may also get to "work" along the way, for example by bending or stretching your arms or legs or tensing certain muscles.
